West Midlands

Welcome to the West Midlands page on the National NODA Website

Our region which includes almost 200 societies and groups and 65 individual members stretches from the Moorlands & Potteries Staffordshire, and the Welsh Marches of Shropshire. Through the Black Country to the centre of Birmingham the UK’s second city then across Herefordshire and Worcestershire with the Malvern hills and Warwickshire the birthplace of that playwright we lovingly call 'The Bard”.

It is a region rich in culture and diversity with a strong and vibrant Amateur Theatre output and interest. You can see performances in some of the best theatres in the West Midlands and also enjoy the wealth of talent in smaller venues, well equipped community centres, schools and village halls.

As Regional Councillor I feel privileged to lead a dedicated regional team covering a geographical split across 11 districts each with a Regional Representative. In addition we have 2 Assistant Regional Representatives, a Youth Coordinator and a Treasurer. Roles such as NODA Today editor, Membership Secretary and Awards Secretary are covered by members of the team.

Please check out our pages regularly especially our committee page to see the Regional Representative that serves you within your District.  Please do invite them to your productions so that they can build up an excellent working relationship with your society and thus serve you better. I also as Regional Councillor am pleased to receive invites to shows across the region.

If you have any difficulty in navigating the site, finding contact details for your representative or indeed any query related to your society or yourself as an Individual Member then please do contact me at the email shown under photo.

Having served for five years as Regional Representative for district five I was delighted to become the Regional Councillor for the West Midland in September 2021. This followed our former Councillor Ian G Cox becoming Chairman of NODA.

During the last 38 years, I have worked with several amateur societies within Worcestershire. I have taken part in close to 150 productions as well as directed many plays, pantomimes, two musicals and a concert. I am delighted to currently be working with a number of socities within the West Midlands carrying out a range of roles.

The standard of productions within our region is continually increasing - what talent we have across the West Midlands.

Each member of the committee looks forward to sharing the rewards of your hard work within their respective districts or other roles they hold upon the committee.

I along with my wife Melanie hope to be able to visit each society in time and would welcome invites to attend shows or other events you hold.

I look forward to meeting as many people as possible at the next Regional Conference and AGM which will be held on Sunday 6 April 2025 - more details to follow.

As always please contact me if I can be of any assistance.
