The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) was founded in 1899 and is the leading representative body for amateur theatre in the UK. The Association has a membership of 2,500 amateur theatre groups staging musicals, operas, plays, concerts and pantomimes in a wide variety of venues, from the country’s leading professional theatres to village halls. Covering a broad spectrum of age ranges, NODA member societies meet the needs of all levels of performers, and those involved backstage, front of house or in society administration.

NODA membership brings with it a wide range of benefits for all its members. These include education and training, NODA Insurance, DBS, long service awards, conferences and networking opportunities, discounts and exclusive special offers, advice and representation, and access to over 150 exclusive pantomimes, musicals and plays.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

Societies

To be society member you must have a constitution, committee and bank account. The cost of your membership is calculated according to your ticket revenue for the year. To join as a society member please choose the band option you require from the dropdown.

Non-performing society membership

Non-performing society membership ( BandAA ) is open to those societies who, for whatever reason, may not be intending to stage a production at any time during the next 12 months .This subscription band would still maintain the momentum and the majority of benefits of NODA membership. It is not open for organisations who, according to their constitution or rules, are not performers. In which case they should be Associate or Society members, and therefore membership banding is based on their gross annual income. 

Associate members

Associate members are groups that do not qualify for society membership, such as those who do not have a committee or constitution. Associate members can also be smaller companies, such a costume hires or props companies. The cost of your membership is calculated according to your turnover for the year. Associate members are not enitled to a vote at the AGM.

Individual/joint members

You can join NODA as an individual or joint member to receive the magazine and access to the members’ area of the website.

Schools/Colleges/Universities

To join NODA as a school, college or university, drama must form part of your wider curriculum. Establishments that only teach drama or dancing must join as Associate or Society members.
