When it comes to quality entertainment, TOPS has a tradition of delivering and ‘Tonight Belongs to Us’ was nothing short of a resounding success. The last 18-months of Covid-related inactivity came to a crashing end as TOPS once again took to the stage in this high-octane production. Any doubts that the spark might be missing, the layoff was too long or that the passion had waned were instantly dismissed. From the opening Medley, the energy and genuine happiness from everyone onstage was clear to see.

Oh, and let’s not forget the quality either...

‘Tonight Belongs to Us’ was conceived by TJ Lloyd as a cabaret to celebrate a wide variety of much-loved musical numbers. These included a selection from past TOPS productions together with a number from ‘Shrek’ -   the long anticipate show now due scheduled for April 2022. The depth of talent within the cast, and wide range of singers who were given an opportunity to perform, was particularly impressive.

The success of ‘Tonight Belongs to Us’ was always going to hinge on the quality of the musical numbers - the singing to be specific. This was, after all, a concert to celebrate some wonderful songs and no amount of dancing and bright costumes would be able to hide a below-par singing performance. Once again, TOPS delivered in style with the quality of all numbers being of an exceptionally high standard. From the opening Medley it was apparent the audience was in for a special evening and this proved to be the case.

Congratulations to the entire cast, production team and backstage crew for delivering yet another quality production.  ‘Tonight Belongs to Us’ was a fabulous way to announce your return and I look forward to visiting with TOPS, in April 2022, for the much anticipated ‘Shrek-the Musical’.
