The Mr Misty Mystery was a very good vehicle for Amateur Theatre with four strong female characters at the centre of the story as an unlikely group of criminals plotting an art theft with an amusing twist in the plot. The roles provided good opportunities for the actresses to show a range of reactions and body language as they recruit the personnel, plan the crime, face the consequences, and reveal the truth. They were well supported by three police officers.

The play was well paced with enough amusing moments and confrontational exchanges to keep us engaged throughout. The cast showed very good acting skills with great physicality and body language to develop their characters and show their reactions to each interaction. It was a very enjoyable light-hearted caper, a sort of modern-day Ealing comedy Lavender Hill mob!

This production was very well directedwith well-developed characters and brought out the light-hearted amusing moments well. Twyford Drama’s staging was very good with clever use of the stage space and well blocked movement. The lighting and sound were both well designed and added to the atmosphere and setting.
