I was very pleased to be invited to MOS’s version of The Merry Widow. Franz Lehar’s 1905 operetta with original book and lyrics by Victor Leon and Leo Stein, was performed in London in 1907 and ran for 778 performances. Its popularity has continued and although not so commonly performed these days the music with its romantic melodies is still wonderful to hear. I had that wonderful waltz floating around my head for the rest of evening.

MOS production was sumptuous affair with colourful costumes and opulent sets. All of the principals were well cast and the company produced a lovely sound.
