Lindley players' production of "The Lion in Winter" at the Whitstable Playhouse this week was one of the best acted plays I have seen in my 7 years as a representative for NODA, if not the best.

This period drama was a wordy tour de force for all in the cast, especially for David Kemp (Henry ll). His characterization was superlative - I have never seen better in my area for a long time, if ever.

Eleanor (Sarah Hinchliffe) matched his excellence, playing his imprisoned wife (Eleanor of Aquitaine).Their three sons Geoffrey (Dan Coles), John (Tom Cox) and Richard the Lionheart (Christy Hinchlffe) - each one of these young men was different from the others and this showed in their portrayals of their characters: brilliant!!. Alfie Merritt as King Phillip of France played the king with tongue in cheek and a glint in his eye. He played it just right, didn't go over the top as he could have done. Perfect. Lastly but not least, Lucie Nash (Princess Alias) showed the love she had for Henry, a well thought  through part and very well played  by Lucie.

This play was a joy to watch, perfect in every way and a good solid set Design by (Sid and Christine Russell) and perfect mood lighting by (Jamie Simms)

Director Christine Russell: your direction was faultless and you should be very proud of yourself and your cast.
