Director’s programme notes suggest that the Play That Goes Wrong is a direct pinch from the Farndale series of plays. The difference is that West End productions have taken the genre of ineptly performed amateur productions to another level. Reporting on an amateur production of an amateur production is difficult in that it is difficult to distinguish between the unintentionally poor and the brilliantly poor. This particular play is possibly not the strongest in the Farndale series, which of itself limits the potential quality of performance. Nonetheless, the Priory Players made the best of material available with some well executed set pieces and line delivery which kept the chuckles coming for an appreciative audience.
