CADOS recognised that this is an important play that should be presented to new audiences and not forgotten. The play presents its own challenges in creating the appropriate tone as well as the practicalities of moving the cast around a restricted stage area. The cast and crew overcame all these challenges and gave a performance of real quality.

The set designers created a superb claustrophobic feeling of the Amsterdam annex that held the eight people captive for over two years. The proximity and menace of the outside world was a regularly present via the clever sound effects.

The cast worked well together showing the ups and downs of the people living with confinement. Not on the same scale but a nod to recent lockdown measures.

There were some outstanding performances especially as recreating this harrowing true story requires care and sensitivity to respect those that it portrays. CADOS delivered this with compassion and engaged their audiences with a lasting connection.
