Ten Times Table is one of Alan Ayckbourn’s lesser-known plays but it has all his familiar themes of marital and class conflict set amongst the English lower-middle classes. It is a highly entertaining comedy/farce in two distinct halves. The first is set around the organising committee table of the Pendon Pageant and the seconds turns into the farce of the festival itself.  Each half was delivered by IODS with pace, force and detail and great commitment to the action.

There were strong characters who told their sometimes painful stories. There were funny lines and observed situations with good structure and comment on a world we can recognise. In Ten Times Table the strong IODS cast did a good job in capturing the essence of Ayckbourn and brought a lesser-known play to life and laughter.
