It has been some time since I last visited with Edge Hill Players and it was a pleasure to have returned on this occasion. It’s an ambitious undertaking for any group, professional or amateur, to take on such an iconic and well-known production as The Sound of Music which tells the story of the Von Trapp family on the eve of World War II, Maria the novice nun, a widowed naval Captain, his seven children, an unexpected romance and the ultimate need to escape the Nazis…

As Director, Marie-Claire Lindsay was responsible for the overall production and its ultimate success. I have to say that it was an excellent show and I, like the rest of the audience, was totally absorbed by the acting, the singing, the characters, and the atmosphere. Attention to detail was obvious and this can only be achieved through commitment, dedication and hours of rehearsal time. Congratulations to everyone at Edge Hill Players, and especially those involved with The Sound of Music, for an excellent evening’s entertainment. It was a pleasure to have provided emergency cover for this such a fabulous production and I’d be delighted to return again if ever needed...
