This was very much an ensemble piece from this company in this fast moving and deftly directed production of this Tom Stoppard classic. The two leading characters were played superbly with some fine acting in the supporting roles. Very clear diction and good projection was at a consistently high level - a necessity with such a wordy and complex piece of theatre. The lighting effects were good and were timed to perfection. The eerie lighting effect as the letter was exchanged was particularly effective. The set worked well and gave ample freedom for entrances and exits - the huge barrels in Act 3 being particularly notable. The remarkable costumes made ‘in-house’ perfectly complimented the polished performances as did the unusual and dramatic make-up. Thank you to everyone involved with this thought provoking and stylish production from this ever dependable and talented group who seem to be able to turn their collective hands to any theatrical genre with ease.
