Romeo and Juliet

Rolling out only half the Compass’s seats with the rest of the auditorium as the yard of the Inn at which the Company of Shakespearean Players arrived to perform the show, gave context and authenticity to Argosy’s contribution to the RSC Open Stages scheme, which even on the Tuesday night showed fine characterisations, good verse-speaking and amazing rapport between the name characters despite the loss of their original Romeo and his substitute starting cold less than four weeks beforehand.
