One of the greatest strengths of this production was apparent from the outset – the quality of the dancing and choreography.  The Director views choreography as integral to the creative process, and it shows.  Working with his co-choreographer he has created routines in which the steps themselves don’t appear unusually challenging, but which are performed with such precision, such pizazz, such confidence and enthusiasm by every member of the company that the overall effect is quite stunning.  More than this, the performers seem to have rhythm in their souls.  Moves aren’t performed mechanically, they flow through the dancers’ bodies as if this sort of freedom of expression is the most natural thing in the world.

The Company attracts top local talent because of its hard-earned reputation for excellence, but also because it has the resources, expertise and personnel to put on a thoroughly professional show in a renowned regional theatre.  Nowhere was this more apparent than in the orchestra pit, where the Musical Director marshalled her thirteen musicians to great effect.  The accompaniment was as precise and polished as the singing and choreography, and beautifully amplified and reproduced.
