Although I knew of this play I had never seen it. I must admit nothing prepared me for the language contained therein and which; to be honest, I found quite offensive. The cast however were relaxed and comfortable with it and therefore made it sound natural and common place. From my perspective I felt the plot lacked real purpose; this was down to the script not the direction. (Maybe I just didn’t get it!) That said I cannot take it away from the cast or director who delivered an absolutely superb performance! There was outstanding acting from every member of the cast; all of whom had excellent analogous accents, and they ensured this piece of evocative theatre was well received by the audience; including me. The cast were ably assisted by an exceptionally talented technical team who excelled in this performance.
I was blown away by the set; it looked fantastic. The greenery at the back and side of the stage with the tree stage right; really made you feel as though you were actually there in the wood. I liked the added touch of the alcove which housed the fridge and the way the leaves had been made to look as though they had blown under the pallet at the front of the caravan. Now as to the caravan; I have been trying to make up my mind whether it was a real on or not! If it was real how the dickens did you manage to get it on stage? If it was built it was fantastic and so realistic; either way my congratulations to you!
