Curtain Up!

Deprived of the opportunity to mount a full scale musical production owing to the closure of the Orchard Theatre as a result of RAAC, DAODS had only four months to devise, cast and rehearse a compilation show. Thanks to the prompt response of Dartford Borough Council and Trafalgar Entertainment, this was presented in the temporary Orchard West, close by the main theatre undergoing remedial building work. Production was slick, featuring a strong line up of soloists and company of almost 50, including a very talented group of 12 youngsters, a number of whom would otherwise have been involved in the cancelled performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. 34 musical numbers ranging from solos to small groups, full company numbers with all the bells and whistles expected of a conventional musical comedy were delivered at a cracking pace, making full use of the considerable talents available within the company.
