Thank you for inviting me to your annual theatre supper and performance of Black Adder. We had a lovely evening of theatre accompanied by an excellent meal prepared and served to us..

The three Episodes chosen: “Potato” where Edmund attempts to impress Queenie by embarking on his own voyage of discovery to the New World, “Nob and Nobility” where Blackadder disparages the Scarlet Pimpernel and “General Hospital” where Lieutenant George ends up in hospital and the search for a German spy begins were a good choice bringing interest and comedy as we moved through the ages.

When putting on a popular TV comedy series, the audience are expecting to see as near as possible a copy of the characters as portrayed by the original actors and I was pleased to see that the HAODS cast maintained the essence of these iconic characters, whilst making them their own. Their line delivery was clear, and their stagecraft and physicality really added depth to the characters they each played. The production had been very well cast and the director had clearly worked with them on their characterisations so that they looked confident in their roles and were enjoying performing. Good use had been made of the small stage to give distinct acting areas and in the most part avoided blocking. The costumes were excellent and really added to the performance.

All in all a very enjoyable evening, thankyou.
