Beyond the Bricks

This was a specially commissioned musical, based on extensive research and celebrating the centenary year of Morning Hall in Chingford, CADOS’s home for rehearsals and performances.

The show featured scenes from WWII where the hall was used as a British Restaurant, a political battle against planners for its long-term future, time when it was used as a school and the various local community groups that have used the hall over its 100 years. We also met many real people along the way that have added to this lovely story.

This was a show full of warmth, cleverly written and staged, a real company show with many members contributing to a celebration of a small hall that sits quietly beside the village green and parish church. This was a terrific piece of local art that will be long remembered in the continuing story of Mornington Hall.
