There are several versions of Anything Goes and MMCS opted for the 1987 version which has been the more popular version for societies. All versions give the opportunity of performing a wonderful selection of Cole Porter classic tunes, performed on the fictional ocean liner, the SS America.
I found the MMCS production was executed with tremendous pace, with excellent tempo from the off, with a superbly drilled cast that swiftly entered and exited their scenes, allowing the show to move with great alacrity. Anything Goes offers some wonderful dance opportunities, particularly with the title song at the end of act one, but compared with some of the previous MMCS productions I have seen, the act one finale was slightly underwhelming (although still wonderfully performed). The singing was of a very high quality with all the principals delivering strong performances and ably assisted by a strong chorus and supporting cast.
