With lots of parts, familiar songs and plenty of fun this was the perfect show for Wargrave Youth Theatre’s first full length musical. The creative team had obviously worked very hard with the youngsters to learn their parts, develop their characters and accents and to work together as a team which they did brilliantly. I am sure that all of the cast and creative team loved putting this show together. 

The principals had been well cast and gave very good acting and vocal performances speaking and singing with good clarity and volume. The ensemble gave good support with some great performances from the other orphans. At times some of the youngsters were a little quiet, but this will I am sure improve with experience and more onstage time, 

The musical accompaniment was tracks and I was impressed though that all of the youngsters came in on time in the tracks without an MD to conduct them. The dances numbers, physicality and movement had been well designed and all of the cast moved and danced with energy and enjoyment.

This was an enjoyable show and one that I am sure that all of the youngsters in the cast will have loved being in. Sitting with proud parents in the audience reminded me what a joy it is to see your children on stage at the beginning of their theatre journeys. Thank you for inviting me.
