A Bunch of Amateurs

Allowing for the presence of larger than life characters within the script, there is an inherent danger of hamming up created by amateur actors performing as amateur actors. The main characters certainly succeeded in this but some dialling down elsewhere would have been of benefit. A simple set using back projection to create the main barn theatre setting, with other locations represented by the introduction of furniture and lighting changes created the potential for the Hislop & Newman piece to be brought to life in an entertaining performance.
