2026 SEASON
We are seeking applications from directors for our Summer 2026 season.
TWELFTH NIGHT
ONE MAN TWO GUVNORS
TREASURE ISLAND
We are looking for directors who can bring –
- Creative vision and the energy to deliver these productions in our stunning 600 seat outdoor venue.
- An inspiring and collaborative approach to lead the cast and work with the production support teams.
DIRECTOR’S INFORMATION PACK
WHAT
- This is an unpaid post; travel expenses of up to £1,500 are available.
- Productions have a very significant budget available.
- Actors, directors and production crews are unpaid, however Tolethorpe has a dedicated professional Wardrobe team for design and delivery of all costumes, professional Technical Manager to support all shows and a full professional Company Management team to support directors throughout the process.
HOW
Please send your cv, detailing productions together with a short covering letter – please outline outdoor experience if you have any. In your letter state which production(s) from the 2026 season interest(s) you. Please send to recruitment@tolethorpe.co.uk with the subject header of Director 2026.
WHEN
- Please send all applications to us by noon on 9th May 2025.
- Invitations to come meet us will be sent by email, week beginning 12th May 2025.
- Director meetings will be held over the Bank Holiday of 24th/25th/ 26th May 2025 at Tolethorpe Hall.
- Directors’ offers will be made in the following week.
- KEY DATES July 2025 initial design meetings (can be virtual.)
- September 2025 audition weekend.
- January 2026 first weekend cast social and director’s time.
- March 2026 rehearsals begin as scheduled - flexible scheduling is available and an assistant director can provide additional support if required.
- 9 June 2026 season opens; 23-26 performances of each title through to 23 August 2026.
