A Legacy of Laughter, Music and Family

Stamford Gilbert & Sullivan’s Multi-Generational Pirates of Penzance

One of the most remarkable aspects of our upcoming production this year, is not just the excitement of what’s going to be happening on stage, but the amazing range of ages and family connections within the cast sharing the stage.Rehearsals have been filled with performers ranging from the tender age of 10 (making their stage debut), to long-standing members whose involvement with the society spans decades, proving that the works of Gilbert & Sullivan are for everyone. This production brings together generations of families who share a love of music, theatre and particularly the timeless works of the great Messrs. Gilbert & Sullivan. Our large cast includes parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren and siblings performing side by side, showing how much fun Gilbert & Sullivan is, whatever your age.The younger members of the company who are still learning their craft, bring fresh energy, boundless enthusiasm, fun (and plenty of noise to rehearsals!), whilst the longer-standing members help guide and support them with their experience, knowledge and dedication, allowing all to perform together across generations. When the curtain rises on this production in October, audiences will witness the wonder of this truly multi-generational cast, all working together passing on the traditions, humour and camaraderie that has sustained our society for so long.It is a timely reminder why amateur theatre matters — because it brings families together, builds lasting friendships, and creates memories that endure long after the final encore.

Stamford Gilbert & Sullivan Players are a thriving and growing society which just proves that the works of Gilbert & Sullivan are for all generations and will be here for many, many years to come!
