STORY OF GILBERT AND SULLIVAN

14th February 2025

NODA award winning Stamford Gilbert and Sullivan Players are busy rehearsing for 3 upcoming fundraising concerts honouring the great late, great Messrs. Gilbert and Sullivan dramatist and composer extraordinaire!
They are starting off the 550th year anniversary celebrations of Browne’s hospital, Stamford (Lincs) by performing in the historic boardroom of the Almshouses on Saturday March 1st at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are £15 including interval refreshments, or £10 for U18s and can be booked by going to Ticket Source, from Browne’s itself, on the door or from Ruth Palmer at Stamford G&S on ireson511@btinternet.com

This well received and now annual ‘STORY OF GILBERT AND SULLIVAN’ concert was written during lockdown by director Ruth Palmer and is a chronologically narrated nostalgic and musical  journey through the G&S canon, describing the ups and downs of the 2 talented men, their relationship with Impresario D’Oyly Carte and the inspiration behind their operettas.
You will be entertained with songs from all your favourite G&S shows, with photos on a big screen from past and present, stage lighting, a talented cast of 30 in sparkling evening dress using fun props, as well as enjoying a guest appearance from Dave Turner from the popular 80’s Ska band Bad Manners playing his harmonica!
At the end of the month on Saturday March 22nd they will be performing the same concert in the lovely Bourne Abbey Church at 7pm.
What better than a topsy turvy theatrical musical evening with Pirates, policemen, fairies and ghosts to make you smile and warm your hearts on a chilly evening!

Ticket details for both concerts can be found on www.stamfordgandsplayers.com
