Paul Herrington-Hurley – Beauty Expert, Makeup Artist & Educator
Paul Herrington-Hurley has been a leading figure in the beauty industry for over 35 years, working with some of the world’s most prestigious brands.
He began his career in the West Midlands, training as a hairdresser before moving to London to pursue his dream of becoming a makeup artist and skincare expert. Over the years, Paul has established himself as a trusted authority in beauty, artistry, and education.
Early in his career, Paul worked as a National Makeup Artist for Estée Lauder, and later as a Makeup Trainer for Space NK. He also ran his own personal beauty studio in London’s West End, providing bespoke one-to-one consultations for high-end clients across multiple luxury brands. Alongside his retail and studio work, Paul also contributed his creative talents to theatre and television, specialising in wigs and makeup design.
In 2004, Paul was headhunted by Bobbi Brown to become Head of Education for the UK and Ireland. In this role, he travelled extensively across the UK and the USA, working closely with Bobbi Brown herself on in-store events, as well as London and New York Fashion Weeks. During his tenure, Paul became a familiar face on QVC UK, hosting regular sell-out shows for the brand.
In 2008, Paul was promoted to Director of Artistry for Bobbi Brown UK & Ireland, a position he held until 2012 before branching out as a freelance beauty expert.
Since then, Paul has become one of the industry’s most in-demand artists and educators, appearing as a beauty expert on television and radio and working with a roster of celebrities from film, television, and even royalty.
Paul continues to appear on QVC UK, where he has been a regular for over 20 years, representing brands such as Bobbi Brown and Magnitone, as well as guesting on QVC Germany and Italy.
Renowned for his artistry, education, and creative direction, Paul specialises in bridal, red carpet, editorial, and media makeup, and is frequently consulted by top beauty brands for events, artistry development, and product styling.
Alongside his commercial work, Paul remains passionate about theatre, designing makeup, hair, and wig looks for stage productions across the UK. His diverse experience and enduring passion for beauty make him one of the most respected and versatile figures in the industry today.
Session: Make Up for Theatre
This full week of tuition introduces the fundamentals of theatrical makeup and begins to explore a variety of techniques used to enhance the visual storytelling of a production. Building on the success of last year’s short course, and by popular request, we are delighted to offer an opportunity to delve deeper into the magic of make up.
Throughout the week, you will develop a strong foundation in basic stage makeup and progress to more advanced, creative applications.

Basic Stage Makeup: Understanding products, tools, and techniques for stage lighting and performance

Makeup Illusions: Creating depth, highlights, and character definition through shading and contouring

Age Transformation: Techniques to alter appearance and portray different ages using makeup

Gender Transformation & Drag Techniques: Exploring the artistry of gender expression and transformation in theatrical contexts

Wig Dressing & Styling: Fundamentals of wig preparation, fitting, and styling for performance

Horror & Special Effects Makeup: Introduction to prosthetics, wounds, scars, and fantasy makeup for stage and screen
By the end of the week, you will have a practical understanding of how makeup can support and enhance character, narrative, and aesthetic impact in live performance.
