A Chorus of Disapproval is a gloriously British comedy about ambition, hypocrisy, and the very dangerous idea that you might be better than the person next to you.
Set in a proudly provincial town, the play follows the fortunes of a well-meaning but wildly misguided amateur operatic society. Committees bicker, egos inflate, moral standards wobble, and everyone has an opinion — usually about everyone else.
At the centre of it all is Guy Jones, a shy widower who joins the group for companionship… and accidentally discovers a talent that catapults him from background nobody to leading-man status. Cue jealousy, outrage, passive-aggressive politeness, and one of the most spectacular cases of small-town disapproval ever staged
Witty, sharp, and painfully recognisable, A Chorus of Disapproval skewers class, conformity, and the curious politics of amateur drama — with big laughs, delicious irony, and just enough truth to make everyone slightly uncomfortable.
A comedy with a bite, a heart, and a very loud chorus.
