Theatrecraft

Theatrecraft began life as The William Askew Players in 1948, launching with The Barretts of Wimpole Street. Originally focused on plays, the group expanded to revive Herne Bay’s annual Christmas pantomime in 1957, and embraced modern musicals in 1964 - creating the dynamic, inclusive company we are today.

Over the decades, Theatrecraft has built a reputation for ambitious, high-quality productions. We’re proud to hold four NODA Awards of Excellence for Return to the Forbidden Planet, Tommy, Made in Dagenham, and Legally Blonde, alongside numerous KDA Awards across all disciplines - from best actor and director to ensemble work.

We continue to grow, and we’re passionate about creating joyful, award-winning theatre that brings people together on and off stage.
