Spennymoor Stage and Song is a local theatre society based in the town of Spennymoor, a few miles away from the historic City of Durham. We perform two productions a year, a pantomime in January and a musical in late Spring, as well as one-off productions, with rehearsals running from September to May.
Our society was founded in 1912 and for many years to follow almost all of the shows we staged were Gilbert and Sullivan productions. Though over the last 25 years, we have performed a number of firsts for the area, giving us the reputation of trying our hand at anything. Formerly known as Spennymoor Amateur Operatic Society, our group was re-branded with a new image to start the new stage of our life, in which Spennymoor Stage and Song was born. We also celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2012, while reflecting on the history of our society and its many audiences throughout the years.
To keep up to date with our society and its productions, or to enquire about membership to our friendly society, like us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/SpennymoorStageAndSong).
