Lilies on the Land
Shinfield Players Theatre, SPT
Ricky's technical support provided superb projected backings, fine lighting and sound effects, brilliant costumes from their professional-standard wardrobe and a super-efficient stage crew. The adaptation of Terry Pratchett's skewed take on Macbeth, however, (perhaps too faithful to the original book?) proceeded very slowly and seemed to lack theatricality. Dialogue was not always projected and our small audience rarely broke into laughter, though it did applaud generously at the curtain. I was not converted into a Pratchett fan (the Director's expressed hope).
