A show requiring eight performers to present over twenty characters and songs written or curated by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso needs an exceptionally strong cast, assured musical and dramatic direction. Sedos fortunately had all the elements required to present a show which on the face of it, does not sound like a fun evening’s entertainment, being accounts of working lives lifted from Pullitzer Prize winning author Studs Terkel’s 1974 book. In fact, this show took the audience on a journey of recognition and not a little sympathy for the working roles we all take in keeping society moving. The icing on the cake would have been paring down on truck use to make the show even more slick than the cast were able to achieve by performance alone. It was also brilliant to see such an ethnically diverse company in amateur theatre.
