The vast majority of this society is comprised of juniors, so I am writing this review as for a youth group. I think everyone must know the story and the music for this show, and we all have various expectations and we were not disappointed. I could not believe the age of Ella Atree who played Dorothy, I was told she was 13 but had to check, she gave a exceptionally mature performance, she never missed a line, her diction whilst singing or acting was first class and she kept the accent throughout as did Bethan Norman ( Glinda the Good Witch. Jack Pocock (Scarecrow), Oliver Skinner( Tin Man) all gave great performances and all fitted their roles perfectly and you couldn’t find a better cowardly Lion than Will Jones. Well Done.
With such talented youngsters the adults had a lot to live up to and Deb Hughes was a perfect “ Boo Hiss” villain as the Wicked Witch of the West.
This society has a large company with very varying age ranges and they had obviously been well rehearsed as they all gave very confident performances.
Some of the younger chorus members show a lot of promise and in time, with the help and training they are given will be the next generation of the theatre world.
A great production, you should all be very proud of yourselves.
