With One Voice

The annual concert by this multi award winning choir at the Layard theatre, set in the grounds of Canford School, Wimborne, has always been a highlight of the summer.

It had recently been announced on social media that Musical director Jean Chambers and pianist Mary Potter, both who have been with the choir since it began 18 years ago, are moving on to pastures new and I understand some of the choir will go with them. Therefore I was concerned as to how the atmosphere would be at this concert

It was certainly noticeable that the choir was somewhat reduced in numbers from previous years. However, the standard of the singing was the same as ever, excellent and inspirational, but perhaps just lacking a bit of volume when fortissimo was required   

The choir’s concerts always have a varied selection of songs with something to suit every ones tastes. On this occasion I particularly enjoyed, "Manly Men", "Toreador’s Song", "La Mer", "Winner Takes it all" and the "Guys & Dolls Medley".  

The evening was closed with a presentation to both Jean and Mary, thanking them for their dedication to the P&P Productions. I very much look forward to seeing P&P Singers at their next concert under the baton of their new Musical director.
