The Director Peter Nickols-Rawle has a knack of putting his signature to the sets of the productions that he directs and this was no exception, a very good set but with unusual coloured lighting strips. This comedy was performed very well indeed with the wit and humour really being brought out to the full.
Harvey Barrett did a cracking job, delivering his lines so well, you could really believe in him. His wife Vi gave an equally good performance, giving an understated quality to the role, delivering very funny lines in a serious and unselfconscious manner. They matched each other so well, reading each other’s thoughts and behaviour as a very convincing long married couple.
Kevin Prewitt, the agent to Dave, gave an excellent performance as did his wife Jane.
Kay, Dave’s first wife (or was it his only wife?), was a role to die for, as it were, tarty and common as muck, a wonderful performance with good facial expressions. Laura Thursby was excellently played; the grieving but bravely glamorous widow determined to give the dear departed a send-off to remember.
Dave made a very short appearance by collapsing almost as soon as curtain up but set the tone for a brilliantly performed comedy that all the actors shone in ,wonderfully directed ,it had the audience riveted ….a wordy play; a very well written and funny one. Again thanks and congratulations to all concerned; a wonderful evening’s entertainment yet again from this small and prolific company.
