The set of a stylish sitting room was excellent. However, there were gasps from the audience at the realisation it featured a coffin. It transpired that the funeral of a well-known comedian was due to take place shortly. Eric Chappell's script was peppered with pithy, clever one-liners that were hilariously funny. All six members of the cast suited their roles extremely well and used their lines to the best advantage. I found the facial expressions of Garry Hutchings in the role of Harvey Barrett spoke volumes! It is very difficult to separate the remaining five characters from Pam Phipps as Laura Thursby, Toni Tovery as Vi Barrett, Graham Stouse and Julie Williams as Kevin and Jane Prewitt and Darrell Hutchings as Kay. They were all excellent. All the technical aspects were in capable hands under the superb direction of Dennis Martin and Mandy Hartley. The play moved on at a good pace with one farcical situation following rapidly after another. I cannot say I felt comfortable with this light-hearted date with death but I have to admit it was a very funny play and the audience really enjoyed it.
