Who’s in Bed With The Butler” by Michael Parker is a traditional and very funny farce.  William Olden, a wine billionaire, has died and what follows is a farce as his daughter and various lovers fight over his fortune.

Scenery/Set/Properties: The set was excellent and had been well crafted faithfully creating the interior of the wine billionaire’s mansion. There was with great attention to detail – faded piece of wall where a painting had been hung and beautiful exterior. The props were good and well used, such as phones, food trolley and Oscar the Rat!

A great deal of trouble had gone into ensuring each character was appropriately dressed and made up immaculately. Some of Renee’s costumes produced whistles from the audience.

The lighting was effective and well controlled.

The essential characterisations of each cast member was well developed and each character maintained their persona throughout. There were no weak links in this excellent production. Fergus Kirkham provided much of the humour as the private investigator William Davis Jr spending a large part of the play on the floor having been knocked out following a series of spectacular falls and mishaps. Paul Cuttle – as Clifton, the title character – worked extremely hard as he fought off the amorous affections of his many lovers. Wilma Jordan as Agnes, the eccentric housekeeper, had a lot of fun with the role she shared with Oscar, the rat!  Thanks to the talented and hard-working team, led by Director, Graeme Cooper and Assistant Director, Ros Shepherd, the design, direction and performances provided the audience with an evening of – to quote the playwright - “naughty but nice fun and laughter”.
