The set and the opening chorus of this production certainly captured the audience. The set was basic but that is all that was needed for this heartfelt show. Each and every one of the cast showed commitment and individuality. The Ensemble sang well and supported the principals on stage.

The costumes were realistic and worked well with the theme and set. The lighting plots were effective and added to the show giving us the experience.

The principals were strong and really told the story of Whistle Down the Wind. I must mention Ebony Hall as Cathy and Safara Halpin-Jones as Nan for their lovely characterisation and certainly perfected accent. Finn Radford melted hearts with his ‘cheeky chappy’ character. Aled Owen as Sean Bostock gave a convincing fatherly performance and Matthew Tucker as The Priest. Joe Martin as ‘The Man’ gave a great performance with a strong vocal ability. The children’s ensemble was brilliant and gave outstanding performances each time they were on stage.

I enjoyed this great production and my congratulations go to the company both on stage and off stage!
