The set featured a raised platform at the back, accessible via staircases on either side. Wooden pallets were used as dressing to excellent effect, with fencing and some spotlights to create a rock concert vibe. A large screen on the upper level was utilised at various points during the production to project images of iconic rock stars during the performance of "No One Like You”. This setup was highly effective, offering multiple levels and areas for different scenes without necessitating scene changes. The lighting design was very fitting for the concert vibe of this show and created an appropriate atmosphere throughout. Similarly, costumes, hair and makeup successfully evoked the rock and roll period. The production and backstage teams had worked hard to achieved the desired aesthetic, resulting in an impressive presentation. Very well done.

Noah, in the role of Galileo, delivered a commendable performance, and skilfully navigated the vocally demanding music. Despite the familiarity of the songs he, supported by an outstanding band, delivered impressive interpretations of all of them. His acting was equally strong, characterised by good energy and presence.

Scaramouche (Carisma) was also a strong performer and had plenty of attitude for this feisty character. Her vocal performance impressed, and her acting skills contributed to a really convincing portrayal.

Killer Queen (Kelley), exuded sass and delivered a terrific vocal performance. Her voice had a lovely tone that was particularly well-suited to her songs, especially her title number "Killer Queen."

Khashoggi (Chris) gave a solid performance as the Killer Queen’s second in command and had good stage presence.

Brit (Ryan) and Oz (Daisy) were a wonderfully charismatic pairing, both delivering some stand-out vocals and some of the show’s comedy moments.

Buddy (Andrew), captured the laid-back 60’s vibe which worked well for his comedic lines, all delivered with the required precision and timing. He was also a proficient singer and had excellent stage presence.

The ensemble was effectively utilised, showcasing well-rehearsed dance numbers and imaginative choreography by Dani.

Musical director, Helen had made sure vocals for both the principals and the ensemble were thoroughly rehearsed and consistently strong. The small band were excellent and kept the show moving at a good pace whilst fully supporting the actors.

In summary, Petra gave us a really well-crafted production which successfully created the scale and atmosphere the show demands. Although Ben Elton’s story and script is somewhat lacking, the strong direction, accomplished performances by the cast, and the excellent music by Queen combined together to really lift the performance. The infectious energy on stage was matched by a great atmosphere in the theatre with plenty of laughter, reactions, clapping and singing along. Congratulations to all involved.
