We Will Rock You

I have always felt that Ben Elton’s writing is exceptionally clever and he certainly doesn’t disappoint in this production.  The whole production did the book credit and the vocal delivery from EVERYONE was second to none.  I was pleased to note that no one threw away his wonderful lines, some of which weren’t altogether PC but which certainly entertained the older members of the audience.

This production showed the versatility of the company – you need different voices to sing rock and you had this in spades.  All the principles were truthful in their interpretation of their characters and the story was told with honesty.  There was not one weak link in the whole production and you are to be congratulated on blurring the lines between amateur and professional.  The huge cast were obviously having a great time, and it showed.  There was boundless energy, lots of smiles (when the script allowed) and a really joyous feel to the entire production, even though the plot was, in parts, extremely dark. 

This is a show where, if you were part of the Ensemble, you could have as brilliant a time as the principles.  In this production the Ensemble is so important – they support the principles, they flesh out the story and bring it to life.  Galileo’s ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are the Champions’ with the Bohemians (and the audience) had precise moves and projected pure joy from the Ensemble.  The Bohemian Rhapsody ending was really dramatic causing a rhapsodic eruption in the audience, and it was such a good move to bring the lone guitarist out for his solo and allow us to finally see the band, who had done such a superb job throughout the performance.  Congratulations to you all!!!
