It was lovely to return to the Taliesin Theatre to watch Musicality perform We Will Rock You young@part.

It is great that this musical with such iconic songs has been made available for youth performances. Emily had notified me that she had two casts performing and I will do separate reports for them in this review. Firstly I must compliment Emily on the stage presentation, it was simple but extremely effective. The lighting was great and also the band under the control of Bobby were extremely professional.

Prior to splitting the casts, I must compliment both ensembles for their hard work, Every young person on stage seemed to be having the time of their lives with special mention having to be given to the Junior company all under the age of 11. I liked the subtle differences Emily had made in direction between the two teams and it definitely made a difference.

Team One, Thursday Evening.

Galileo was played by Oliver Davies and I really liked his performance, having difficult numbers to sing he managed them really well.

Grace Bidder played Scaramouche and I loved her characterisation. She was cheeky and played really well opposite Oliver. Well done Grace.

Brit ,Oz and Buddy on my first visit were played by Joshua Sullivan, Maisie Lee John and Amelia Hawkins. Each one of these young actors brought their own individuality to the roles and did really well. Kashoggi was played by Thomas Matthews who had a great stature for the role and performed it well.

Finally Killer Queen was taken by Isabella Diddams and I really liked her costume and performance, well done.

Team Two Saturday evening.

As I mentioned earlier I really enjoyed the fresh take on the production on my second visit especially on the two male roles being played by girls in this performance, who I think shone out. Charlie Kenny gave a great performance as Brit the leader of the bohemians and Tara Wells once again impressed me with her performance as Khashoggi, another powerful performance by this young actress.

Rosie Bird played Killer Queen in this performance and really looked the part once again, and huge congratulations to Emma Thorne who was responsible for wardrobe for some very effective costumes.Buddy was played by Jake Coleman and I liked his take on the character.

Bethan Guard took on the role of Oz and she really had a belt in her voice essential for this score.

Finally Galileao and Scaramouche were played by Curtis Martin and Amelia John, both of these young actors played well opposite each other with again some impressive vocals.

I must congratulate all the team at Musicality for the standard of this production especially Emily and Bobby, all movement was well rehearsed and some lovely vocal harmonies were evident with both casts. Thank you once again for your warm welcome and I look forward to joining you in 2026.
