Well you certainly did rock me. What a superb show for the Young Uns. I could also sing along, not that I did, as they were familiar songs – my era!!

The cast obviously enjoyed themselves and were so enthusiastic. Audience very supportive from the start. Music under Leigh Mason was taped but she still conducted to an observant cast.

The black stage was a surprise initially, but all soon became meaningful. All wore blonde wigs and fringe dresses – Lady Gaga. Much of the choreography involved hand gestures and were very effective. It enabled movement on the small stage.

There were many excellent performances, and all factions were well depicted. Fancy being a world without music. I don’t believe that will ever happen. Costumes were from various sources, no doubt lots of fun finding them. They were very appropriate.

Killer Queen (Edie Langford) had a wonderful costume, no doubt what she was portraying, . Galileo ( Kelsey Thornton) showed himself to be a confident singer and played his role well. Scaramouche (Leri Roberts) had an impressive range in her singing.

I actually could not fault anyone with their singing, the chorus were great, lovely confident harmony, helped by the M. D. Sometimes performers don’t look at the M.D. at all, but not in this instance. I certainly noticed how well trained they were, even down to smiles and whole range of facial expressions. I can’t mention all of the principals as I would just be repeating, excellent, great, fabulous.

However, I have to congratulate Brit (Freya Mortimer). Her whole portrayal, singing, body language were outstanding. She didn’t lose her character at all. Along with the rest of the cast she obviously enjoyed the show.

Staging of scenes was slick and minimalistic scenery, mostly props, which worked well.

It must have been great for everyone to have a chance to be in such a show. Very useful way of learning about music and history of changes.

There was a whole new production team for this show. Although they worried that the old team would be a hard act to follow, they did a great job. It was good to see Shea Feron involved with the choreography. He used his years of gaining experience growing up in the Young Uns. The stage is quite small but always well used, this being no exception.

There were many opportunities for solos/duets and there was great grouping on stage. They made the most of using “old fashioned” words and pronunciations.

The Young Uns have a wealth of talent on and off stage. A secure future of your company.

Very well done everyone.
