There is a lot of talent hidden away in the market town of Grassington and we were treated to a great slice of it in this production. Speaking to one of the members before the performance she said that sometimes you have to give a production for the cast and not just for the audience. How right she was as the four men involved in Waiting for Godot obviously revelled in the show. They kept the audience spellbound even though the play may not have been to everyone's taste. There was an excellent pairing of the long time friends Estragon (Mark Bamforth) and Vladimir (Leslie Kerkham) who made an amusing double act. The pompous Pozzo (Andrew Jackson) and his faithful servant Lucky (John Anderson) provided the friends with entertainment whilst waiting for the arrival of Godot. Jim Mallalieu-Black as the young boy who brings the news,at the end of both acts, that Godot will not be coming, shows that there is up and coming talent to carry on the high standard of entertainment. Sadly this play does not attract large audiences but those who came were certainly given value for money.
