GLOC Musical Theatre rose with aplomb to the challenges of this quirky musical, making the most of the clever script and lively music. While many traditional musicals allow the chorus members some time to relax backstage, Urinetown involves the chorus almost non-stop, and some of the music is very complex. The dancing was beautifully choreographed and obviously thoroughly rehearsed, and the vocal music didn’t appear to suffer for the vigorous movement.

Given the story is set in a future dystopia, they might have considered sticking to a west London accent which would have been easier on cast and audience, and is just as likely in the future as Brooklyn: speech patterns may well shift in the future.
