Comedy, especially performed by this skilled band of actors was ideal for a Summer evening to cheer us all up as we face uncertainty!

Thank you for your warm welcome on my first official visit to RATS having many times deputised for the legendary Frank Wooles whom we will always remember.

RATS gave us the bawdy and titillating play awash with sex and nudity, Up Pompeii

Having been involved in the Sondheim musical  also based on the film and play A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, imagine that their rehearsals like ours, were at times so hilarious they were at times difficult to manage, and would have been a laugh a minute!

Converting a television production to a stage play is a challenge to get right, yet with this good direction, essential tight timing and these experienced actors excellently  cast and all working hard pulled it off and it was spot on cue.

One vital aspect of any play is diction and we could hear every word from the actors,  delivery razor sharp.

Catalyst Phil Bond as Lurcio gave a fine performance of this Roman slave drawing the whole production together weaving every cast member into the action.

Lucy Chiplin Stage Manager/Set Designer and her team of assistant creative designers made sure the set and technical also made the transition a success, characters stood out in caricature and that Mount Vesuvius was a ‘mini’ triumph!

Well done on your debut, Director Mike Golder and congratulations to the cast I look forward to visiting this theatre gem that is RATS again.
