The P & P Autumn concert is always a showcase, for the many talented performers in the company. The Director’s Notes in the programme promised 'A fast paced, energetic concert performed by a huge cast of adult and children, a 6 piece live band, African Drummers, spectacular lighting and hundreds of Costumes' and the whole company worked hard to deliver what was promised.
Even though the small Regent Centre stage was a little over crowded at times the standard of performance in this very entertaining production was second to none. There were several outstanding numbers. Be back Soon, Footloose, Naughty, and Circle of Life, but the show stopper in my opinion was Little Girls. Unfortunately, the sound team were not of the same standard as the cast. I realise that with multiple soloists, who were obviously required to share and change over body mic’s, they may have had a busy evening, but in my opinion most of numbers were spoilt by the microphones not cued at the right time, not balanced correct or not working at all. It costs the Company a lot of money to hire the theatre, therefore the cast should expect the theatre technicians to enhance their production, not spoil it.
I am sure that by the time of the final three performances at Poole Lighthouse, Wessex Hall, the sound faults will have been ironed out and the whole show will be outstanding.
