This musical version of the Titanic story by James Holmes and Sue Peckham, begins in April 1956 and opens with Grandfather, John Burke (Ben Smart) who was chief baker on the ship, relating his memories of the ship's fatal journey to his grandchildren Kate (Becky McIntyre) and James Burke (Adam Harding) after they discovered a chestful of artifacts in his attic.   The scenes were linked by two narrators - Abi Marchant and Hannah Gardener - and all the cast, many of whom portrayed more than one character, acted and sang well and it would be invidious of me to mention individual performances.  Most of the scenes were projected onto the back wall, and the loading of the luggage on board the ship during the overture was very ingenious.   The pace of the show was slick partly due to the swift changes of sets and properties by Stage Manager Lee Marks and his team.   Finally the lighting design of Marc Fairclough enhanded this titanic production.
