Lilies on the Land
Shinfield Players Theatre, SPT
This was an interesting and unusual musical, slightly different from the main stream but nevertheless enjoyable. Some excellent songs performed well by a small talented cast and a plot line that explored the conflict of a creative writer approaching the watershed of 30 failing to make his dreams come true and wrestling with the life choices he faces. Clearly autobiographical by Jonathan Larson the themes were well developed and thought provoking.
The size of the audience was perhaps a little disappointing especially given that the show was of such a high standard. I suspect that as this is not a well known show that may have been a factor.
