For their public debut, Renegades’ production showed much promise. It was a deceptively difficult piece but it was thought-provoking, well-staged and with some good performances. The cast of four gave us three scenes of couples trying and failing to communicate. The intimate setting brought the audience right into the action. Raw emotions tempered by good comic timing gave life to these sad and troubled characters. There was some excellent acting just with body movement and - when there was no dialogue - grunts and sighs to clearly indicate frustration, anger, despair or contentment. Silence was well used. Props and set dressing was right for the 1980s, the stage was well lit and there was very suitable music. An interesting piece.
