It is always lovely to be invited to see a play as it is a very different discipline to musical theatre. More and more societies are adding plays to their company repertoire as a balance to their musical theatre exploits and this is great to see. Glantawe Theatre Company are have very much mastered the art of this form of theatre and they are always a joy to watch!

The story revolved around a family during a wedding anniversary party. With much drink and being in close proximity to members of the family there ensued much comedy and friction, a typical family gathering, with revelations at every turn.

There were some fine performances from the cast with mention going to Sarah Phillips as Marged Samuel, Rhys Davies as Iestyn Jones and Rhia Colamaza as Samantha Peters. The married couples were played well by Janet Jones and Lee Bentley as Maggie and Tony Lewis, Mari Jones and William Adrian as Annie and Les Probert, Della Marion and Obrey Jenkins as Doris and Reg Pritchard and Yvonne Phillips and Anthony Evans as Vera and Tom Jones. There were some great cameo roles played by Paul Hibben, Regan Evans and Russell Rees as the infamous (according to the ladies of the play) Marco Bellini. The performance of the evening for me was given by Toni Carrol as the formidable Bessie Buddig Jones, who played the character perfectly and with fabulous matronly comedy.

A great evening of entertainment and my thanks to the entire company!
