Congratulations once again to Goole AOS on a very enjoyable production of ‘ The Wizard Of Oz’. It is quite some time since I have seen this show but this adaptation by John Kane for The Royal Shakespeare Company was excellent and for me made the story clearer. I appreciate on stage space is limited so the use of projected scenery and also pre recorded music were a great idea and I must say well done to Director, William Knight and Musical Director, Rachel Flynn and all the production team. This was a great company show involving youngsters from the youth group and had something for everyone from munchkins, crows, apple trees, monkeys and other numerous parts. The costumes were very good and brought all the different characters to life.  Dorothy Gale (Ellie Brennan) was perfect for this part. She had girlish charm, a lovely singing voice and her character never faltered throughout and she was accompanied by the show stealing Toto (Max) throughout. Hunk/Scarecrow (Matthew Hillam), Hickory/Tinman (Andrew Dyson) and Zeke/Lion (Christopher Adamson) were so well cast. Their characterisations were outstanding and they all showed great talent and comedic timing. Almira Gulch/Wicked Witch (Abbie Booth) gave us strong and overbearing in contrast to Glinda (Hannah Grist) who was a very calm Good Witch with a lovely singing voice and looked delightful in her beautiful costume. There were some all round good performances from Aunt Em (Claire Brennan), Uncle Henry (Rob Barrett), Professor Marvel/Wizard of Oz (Dhillon Ley) and I must give a shout-out to youth member Munchkin Mayor/Guard (Francis Garrod) who for someone so young more than held his own in both his parts.

Thanks again Goole AOS for your hospitality and a wonderful evening’s entertainment. It is always a pleasure. Keep up the good work.
