I love this little show! The original version that is, the re-write of Witches has not in any way enhanced this show for one who was fortunate to perform in the original version. Vic Atkins really pulled out the stops in an auditorium that must have been a serious challenge to stage such a big production. To add to the production headaches his flying rig was refused a licence only one week before curtain up leaving him with grounded witches! However this game is all about smoke and mirrors so Vic donned his Superman Cape and well done for pulling off a very successful alternative to the flying scene.
Penarth are gifted with an extremely talented set construction team led up in this production by Henry Messenger and as always the set delivered the right feel and continuity for the show.
Iain Scott led up the cast as Darryl with Linos Lea Grapper, Sian Owen and Debbie Apollonio his femme fatale’s. A lively cast brought this production to the stage and I was impressed with the young team of Jenny West and Joe Green who gave a lovely interpretation of the young lovers Jenifer and Michael.
A 90 year anniversary show to be remembered, and long may PODS continue, thanks to Mary Gardener for the invite and looking forward to your next production.
