This was my first visit to a NOMADS Musical Theatre show and I was made to feel very welcome. The show had been three years in the making due to the pandemic so it must have been a relief to finally bring it to the stage

The principals understood and developed their characters and each member of the ensemble had a character which they maintained throughout. With a clear understanding of how tongue in cheek much of the show is, the directors gave us in the most part the right amount of campery from the cast, which they contrasted with scenes with light and shade from Julia and Robbie to give the all-important changes of mood.

Musical Direction was in the safe hands of two very experienced musical directors, and everyone produced good strong vocals. The cast were supported by a great 12-piece band and the balance of the instruments was superb, hugely enhancing the performance.

The choreography was suitably camp and energetic, whilst still being well-disciplined. There were some lovely 80’s inspired dance moves which were engaging and brought a lot of fun to the production.

The 80’s costumes, hair and make-up were authentic to the period and impacted well on the overall feel. There were lots of vibrant make up colours and fun hairstyles. I loved the 80’s crimped locks and the odd mullet. Costumes were suitably colourful and occasionally over the top with neon disco clothes, Ra-RA skirts and big shoulders.

What a fun show, thank you.
